Tehran is willing to restart nuclear negotiations with the United States on condition that it is treated with "dignity" and "honor", Iran's top diplomat has stated.

Abbas Araghchi said solely negotiations worked, and revealed fresh requests had been made by intermediaries to resume negotiations with the Trump administration. He asserted Iran did not have undeclared nuclear sites, and Tehran had not yet reached a point to allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to inspect struck enrichment centers for safety concerns.

Navigating a Challenging Path

The foreign minister is navigating a challenging route since Iran does not want be seen to be acting from a position of weakness, and he emphatically stated that Iran had arisen stronger in military terms and mentally from the coordinated strike on its atomic facilities in June.

He was speaking at a security conference in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to refine atomic fuel domestically that it will perpetually retain" – the main reason of the stalemate in the prior discussions.

Earlier Negotiations Abruptly Concluded

The prior phases of talks between the US and Iran were ended suddenly and acrimonious termination on 12 June when Israel, with American backing, targeted Iranian nuclear sites in a 12-day war that ended with Donald Trump declaring the locations had been eliminated. Afterward, European countries used their right to restore international penalties, but Iran asserts they have not had a significant effect.

Ideal Resolution Offered

Tehran representatives claimed they felt they had achieved a "magic solution" to the uranium processing matter in prior discussions, when it was agreed an local partnership with US participation could enrich uranium. Both sides would have been able to declare success since local refinement would have continued and the US could be confident that Iran's nuclear programme was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been settled in the talks that US nuclear scientists could function on Iranian soil, but that was a natural consequence of the partnership suggestion. Current Situation

He continued: "We effectively endured this war. Our enrichment knowledge, which they intended to destroy, stays intact. The Iranian people have developed stronger, more cohesive, and more endorsing of the administration and the country in the face of this invasion."
